We receive so many wonderful comments about ‘Make Art That Sells‘, that we challenged our amazing alumni to submit their own MATS Manifesto! We were absolutely delighted (but not surprised!) by the staggering level of submissions for the Manifesto competition.
Lilla was very impressed with all the entries and announced an overall winner, PLUS 6 honorable mentions. The winner gets a free place on our wonderful Creating Collections for Home Décor that starts 16 May. All listed below also win a free entry into the 2016 Global Talent Search.
THE WINNER
“I think it’s all written in my manifesto: I’ve been put through my paces and have emerged inspired, guided and refocused. I’ve learned so very very much and the most important thing of all: I’ve got my MOJO BACK!”
Congratulations on your stunning piece Marenthe. You win a free place on Creating Collections for Home Décor, and we will also be giving you a free place on the 2016 Global Talent Search!
We would also like to give honourable mentions to six we particularly loved:
“I have taken part in the Global talent search and by taking a MATS class, I would be very inspired to follow my preferred path of illustration using more paint, inks and other methods of creating art for the wider commercial market.
“MATS is an incredibly encouraging, enthusiastic way to learn how to make art that sells. Best of all, it challenges you to be real and authentic, to be the artist you uniquely are and that the best art comes from being true to yourself.”
“In less than a year from taking my first MATS course I have licensed artwork for fabric and have had positive reactions from several companies who have asked me to keep in touch with new work. I can’t wait for my first fabric to be released this fall and I hope to have a collection of quilting cottons in the near future!”
“All theses courses help me to find my style and to get more confidence in my work. A other important point is the connection with amazing artists from all over the world.”
“Lilla has such a positive attitude towards art making and it is energizing to take any of her classes. I love the mini exercises in Bootcamp or was that Mats, well either way I love the way she breaks the assignments down to make them doable. Her focus on Play and Joy in whatever you do is a constant reminder to me to trust my process.”
“MATS has helped me finding my inner voice and taught me how to translate it into art that sells! I absolutely love the atmosphere of the MATS community, which is always supportive and full of positive vibes.”
Thank you so much to everyone who entered.
We will be featuring many more manifesto’s on the blog and Facebook page over the coming weeks and months!

So does ‘Make Art That Sells’ actually work? Do artists who take the class actually sell more art? Well yes, they do. Students have since secured licensing deals in the gift, editorial, baby apparel, bolt fabric, wall art, greetings, home décor, paper and fashion markets, many have won competitions and a number have been signed for representation.
ALL of our classes will be on SALE.
