WHY TREND BOARDS?
Every time we run the Home Décor course, we provide new trend boards chock full of imagery to inspire you to design terrific products. But more importantly, these fresh boards are made to give you direction in color, subject matter, and vibe so that your work wows art directors. Plus, you get a Trend Board Analysis worksheet to help you better understand the trend boards.
MY JOB IS TO USE MY ART AGENT KNOWLEDGE IN MAKING THE BOARDS
I envision particular clients like Anthropologie, West Elm, Crate & Barrel, Land of Nod, and, knowing what they buy, I create trend boards geared to each of these types of companies. Having delivered trend lectures in New York for several years, I’ve honed my craft.
WHY ARE TREND BOARDS GREAT FOR YOU?
You’ll select one of the trend boards for the duration of the course and make a complete collection pitch based upon it. You benefit because you make art that is applicable to the home decor market while maintaining your style. You get to make art that sells, without selling out. The course will inspire you, push you, and teach you so that your artistic growth is measurable.
I TEAM-TEACH WITH A TOP HOME DECOR ART DIRECTOR
Many of you know art director extraordinaire Margo Tantau who has worked with tons of artists to develop top selling products in the home decor market. I love to teach with her, not only because she has decades of experience and very cool taste, but I also adore doing the weekly class reviews with her.
HOW DO I KNOW THAT OUR HOME DECOR COURSE GETS WORK?
I know our courses work, because several artists that I represent have taken the course and gotten huge home decor collections right away from their work in class! (I can’t show the work until the products go live, but I will be sure to show you then.)
IS THIS MARKET LUCRATIVE?
Absolutely! If you license a collection to a company, and then keep making new pieces for them, the royalties can be really sizeable. Home décor companies want to establish your look and want you to be successful in a long-term relationship. It benefits them and their retailers to market you as a brand. They are hoping that you’ll be the next big thing.
WHAT DO ART DIRECTORS SAY?
Take the courses that everyone is raving about. Art directors are literally thanking us for offering these courses because the courses are raising the level of work in the industry and providing art directors with the kinds of art that they need for their products! MATS works!
