Janine vangool: my favourite object
Janine told us: “My favourite object is my turquoise Royal Quiet De Luxe typewriter from 1956 (though I do love all my other typewriters and related ephemera as well … so much so that I turned this obsession into a 336-page hardcover book that’s coming out this fall!) This particular machine has such a lovely cover and its streamlined metal styling is so evocative of the fifties. Despite its age, it types well and has a lovely clickety clack of the keys and a sharp ding! of the bell. I couldn’t resist collecting a few more and have this model in red, pink, teal, baby blue and grey… someday I hope I’ll find one in yellow and my collection will be complete.
