This is new work I have created for the Holiday season. This is a placement print with hand lettering, available for license for all types of markets like paper and/or party paper. I have taken MATS B, Home Decor and the Children’s Illustration Course.

I look forward to taking Bootcamp in 2017 to keep my portfolio fresh and exciting with new trends including networking with amazing artists across the world. 2017 will be the best yet in my career because I feel all of the work I am putting in is creating new and exciting opportunities for me. I can’t wait!

For the past year I’ve been taking MATS classes and have had lots of firsts – this is my first holiday themed piece. Like everything else, once you get your feet wet lots of other ideas start coming so I already have more in the works. I paint mostly in gouache and this is a mix of gouache and china marker which I love for its great texture.

I started last November with MATS A, then on to Bootcamp & Home Decor, and just wrapped up the new Children’s Book course which for me was life changing. My inner six year old was jumping for joy being immersed in books and now I’m working toward the goal of illustrating books for all ages, and hopefully getting into editorial work as well. I’m looking toward what I hope to be a busy and exciting 2017.

Merry Christmas Bear

I have taken The MATS illustrating children’s book course and I’m currently working on MATS A&B.

The attached image is a design I created for my personal Christmas Cards. The image includes some of my favorite holiday themes, presents, bears in hats and scarfs and snow.

I have really enjoyed the courses I have taken plus all the fun little extras that you do like the GTS or the festive showcase. All of these things have keep me motivated and moving forward at a pace I would not have accomplished on my own. I have also really enjoyed the community aspect of it all.

I do have to say my favorite has been the children’s book class. There was so much great information. I’m still working my way back through it and loving every minute of it. I now spend more time thinking about the characters I draw their personalities, what there body positions says as well as their facial expression and maybe if they are thinking about what they had for lunch.

I was in a bit of plateau before I found the Make Art that sells courses this last July. Lilla, and these courses have inspired me to make a commitment to my art and really push towards the career I want. After seeing how much I have grown in the last couple of months I’m supper excited and very optimistic for 2017.

Tina Mueller | Tinati Design

Snowbirds_Tinati Design

Why not do things a little different this year and build a snowbird instead of a snowman? Fun winter design inspired by the tradition of building a snowman. The Snowbirds collection is available as fabric or gift wrap in my Spoonflower shop.

The MATS A course really helped me get a better understanding of what makes a great design come together and what buyers are looking for. It gave a great insight into the different markets and how they work including everything you need to know to get started. The reviews by Lilla and the interaction in the facebook community were invaluable and made it extra special. For 2017, I’m planning to concentrate on growing my portfolio. I’ve just signed up for the Make It In Design Winter School and the MATS Assignment Bootcamp course starting in March and can’t wait now for the new year to start.

2016-WhaleXmasCard-flatA greeting card for the holiday season entitled: “Whales on Holiday”. From my original watercolor whale paintings – this time depicting each whale embellished with festive hats and silly antlers, balancing stars and decorated trees, and all with a cherry on top! Or lanced by a narwhal – the unicorn of the sea! :)
Inside greeting: “Have a Whale of a Holiday!” May be blank or personalized with your own greeting if desired. Available in single cards as well as 6 and 12 packs in my etsy shop.

I’ve found it’s not as much learning as it is growing. The Make Art That Sells courses gave me a great sense of accomplishment and a new incentive to dive back into actively pursing an illustration career after many, many years. In Bootcamp I found myself surrounded by others who were a lot like me which gave me the confidence to just do the work and not worry so about it being perfect before posting. This led me to start posting more of my work on social network sites as well. This January, I will be taking the Children’s Book Illustration course and am very excited about what that might lead to.
