MARGO TANTAU, CREATIVE CO-OP
Margo blends a passion for art, design and the people who create it with an understanding of specialty retailing, manufacturing, and the challenges of being an independent artist.

Q: How hard is the course?
A: Lilla and Margo are both gifted teachers and have broken down the course content into simple, manageable steps to help you create great art without getting overwhelmed. However, please know that this is not a beginner’s art course: as a rule of thumb, you’ll want to feel comfortable drawing a variety of subjects and we suggest it is most suitable for those with several years’ experience of creating (in any medium).
Q: How much time will the class take?
A: Our PLUS courses are designed to be really manageable and to fit in easily to your schedule. How much time you want to spend on the course each week will depend on you and how much time you want to put in, but as a rule of thumb we’d say it will take around a couple of hours a week over three weeks. If you really want to crush it then we suggest you take our full length Creating Collections for Home Décor course (or both!).
Q: Do I need any special materials?
A: You can use whatever media you like: traditional, digital or a combination of the two. You do not need any special materials for creating product mock ups (see ‘Do I need any special software?’ below for more details on this).
Q: Do I need any special software?
A: You can use whatever media you like: traditional, digital or a combination of the two. If you want to submit your art to the Facebook group for feedback from your fellow students, you will need to be able to scan or photograph your work.
Please note this is not a Photoshop/Illustrator instruction class. If you want to get more familiar with these programmes before starting the class we would recommend Lynda.com or The Art and Business of Surface Pattern Design.
Q: I am not a digital artist. Is this course for me?
A: Make Art That Sells courses are definitely not just for digital artists! Lilla represents artists who use both digital and traditional media, or a combination of the two. Of course, some markets may lend themselves to digital artists and graphic designers, and others more towards painterly/mixed media artists or illustrators, and Lilla is very clear in her guidance throughout the course about where different media can shine, and how to push yourself out of your comfort zone if a particular market is not an obvious choice for you. All of the assignments given in the course are suitable for both traditional and digital artists to interpret in their own way.
Q: Will I be able to communicate with others in the class?
A: Yes, you will be able to communicate in the private Facebook group, where you can also share images of your work, interact and ask as many questions as you like. This will be a great chance to connect with other artists and designers, get different perspectives and share your work.
