My Toy Pitch: Vendela Vrensk

Vendela landed an amazing illustration gig for Barceloneta Proa a la Mar, a socio-economic association in the La Barceloneta area of Barcelona, which came directly from work she’d created for My Toy Pitch.

Vendela told us: “Barceloneta Proa a la Mar is a socio-economic association for bettering the lives of people in my neighborhood, La Barceloneta, who commissioned me to make an illustration for a poster to celebrate their tenth year!”

Vendela continues: “I got the gig directly from a piece I did for My Toy Pitch! Barceloneta Proa a la Mar even nicked the piece from my Instagram or my website, used it as a sketch, and attached it to their mail asking me for the commission, ha ha ha!

Vendela told us: “My art consists of several icons that the client can use separately or combined for various activities like the fisher(wo)man, the blue heart, a sport invented in the neighborhood (takatà) and food related items: They had a grand inauguration and I got to make a speech and was given gifts!”

MATS MBA (Money BadAss): Jinjer Markley

Jinjer visualised her way to her best client, creating editorial images for Jen Clifden PhD, founder of Present Well-Being LLC.

One of Jinjer’s illustrations for her editorial client, Present Well-Being, a gig she visualized while taking MATS MBA (Money BadAss)!

Jinjer told us: “Our professional relationship started when I was taking MATS MBA. There was a visualization exercise, and Jen’s face came to mind. I had taken one of her meditation workshops about a year earlier, during which I doodled my responses to what she was teaching. She had expressed interest in the doodles at the time. I thought ‘Wouldn’t it be cool if she ever needed her class materials illustrated?’ I contacted her to ask if she might be interested and … she said yes! I’ve been working with her for five years now, and we are even working on an oracle deck together!”

Hot Markets for Your Art: Laura Havlish

Laura told us that she set up the Etsy shop that she’d dreamed of for years after being inspired by Make Art That Sells.

Laura told us: “I finally set up the Etsy shop that I have been dreaming of for the last few years! I’m selling cards with my hand painted watercolor designs on them. It has been so delightful and fulfilling to share my art with others who will then pass it along. It might seem like a small success but to me it is a big one.”

Suse’s black and white feather design on Spoonflower. She told us she loves having the extra income generated by the platform.

Suse told us: “I hand drew a black and white scalloped pattern inspired by feathers with ink and fineliner. This pattern is my most successful pattern on Spoonflower yet. The other day I got a message that somebody bought some rolls of wallpaper and it has been so wonderful to read the amount of extra money I earned by just putting the pattern on that platform. Thank you!”
