Imagine getting an email from one of your favorite magazines saying they love your work! This piece by Kate Merritt that was included in the Flow calendar 2019. Illustrating illuminated letters was a mini assignment in a previous Bootcamp course.

The first public gallery goes live TODAY so you can check it out for yourself – just click here. Every year when our first gallery goes live, we get masses of requests to reopen Bootcamp registration because people start seeing all the amazing art coming out of it, so we’re thrilled to announce that we’ll be re-opening registration for a super limited blink-and-you’ll-miss-it window from today until Friday.

Imagine being asked to illustrate an entire book! MATS student Esther Mols landed this gig after a Bootcamp assignment inspired her to create some more suffragette portraits which were then spotted on her Instagram.

MATS student Esther Mols got a gig illustrating an entire book after Penguin Randomhouse UK spotted portraits inspired by Bootcamp on her Instagram feed. She told us: “During Bootcamp 2018 I fell in love with drawing people: first I did Aretha Franklin for the “What’s in your bag?” assignment, and then I drew not one but three Suffragettes, because I could not get enough. I drew more and more portraits and posted them on social media. Of course, I did Lilla’s course Drawing Faces. She told us all the time: “If you can draw people, you get work”. She was right. In June, I got an email from an art director from Penguin Randomhouse UK, asking if I was interested in making illustrations for a non-fiction children’s book about Stephen Hawking. It was the most amazing experience. I was extra proud as I found out that Lilla’s artists Sarah Walsh and Anke Rega illustrated other books in that series.”

MATS student Lori Danelle Wilson loved the Bootcamp #MATSprep so much that she redid it with little cups of positivity, which was then picked up as a greeting card design after sharing on Instagram! Lilla’s assignments are designed to help you get great work and commissions!

Am I good enough for Bootcamp?

Lilla says: “Yes you are! If you like to draw, I’m cool with whatever level you’re at, from beginner to full-time art professional. I’ve taught everyone from little kids to seasoned professional artists, and to be honest, I make the assignments to inspire all the above. So, join us. People love Bootcamp because it’s a fabulous way to create new work over four months! That’s why many of our students take Bootcamp every year.”

For the price of a latte a week, you get something to inspire you to make great art every single Monday from now through the end of May! Sound good? Join us!
