Lilla here. Today I’m sharing the second part of your FREE #MATSprep illustration assignment. I want you to start thinking about your amazing art career for the year ahead. What will it look like? What do you want to focus on? What are your dreams? How will you get there?

You can have a successful art career

I promise you it is absolutely possible to make a real living from making art. I did it for many years when I worked as a full-time illustrator in NYC, and now I help other artists do the same both as an art agent and through my illustration courses with Make Art That Sells. Thousands of Make Art That Sells alumni have created successful art careers – you can read some of their stories here.

Here’s Part 2 of your FREE #MATSprep assignment

How did you get on with Part 1? If you missed it, you can find it here. I’ve loved looking at your gorgeous art on Instagram, and I can’t wait to see what you do with Part 2.

Here’s Part 2: today, you’re going to write your dreams for the future on each cup. The guts of a career is the dream. The thing that will keep you motivated and passionate—through thick and thin—is if the work comes from your very special dream.

What do I mean by a dream? A dream is a vision for your future that makes you happy. It can be anything, big or small. They’re your cups, and it’s your art career. You’re in charge.

Here’s a free worksheet for you with 9 questions to get you thinking. Fill it out – you can print it out and write your answers in, write them in your journal or sketchbook, or type directly onto the worksheet. Just do whatever works for you. Click here to get your worksheet!

Now write your dreams, joys, goals on the cups that you did yesterday. If you want, find the cup on your picture that matches your dream. A big dream = big cup. A little dream = a smaller cup. Of course, there are no rules here, and this is your very own cup dream page, so do whatever feels right for you.

Art by Anni Christie for a previous #MATSprep. There are so many different styles out there, and there’s room for everyone.

Did you feel something slightly magical about writing on the cups? When you share your art online, tell me in your caption how it went for you. I’d love to know. Don’t forget to tag @makeartthatsells and use the hashtag #MATSprep so I can find it.

Tip #1: The best dreams are the ones where you feel physically excited in your body. Note what makes your heart beat faster.

Tip #2: When you’re done, star your favorites.
