Learn how to get paid for illustrating children’s books!

Our hugely popular online course, Illustrating Children’s Books, starts May 20th

REVEALED: Your favorite jobs and clients

Way back in 2023 (remember that?), we asked you to share your very best jobs and clients. We loved reading your stories, and we’re thrilled to share some of them here today – look out for another batch coming up soon.

Jemma Jamie Skidmore

Our favorite story was from Jemma Jamie Skidmore, who told us she was commissioned by Galison Puzzles to make a puzzle from an assignment she got as part of the My Year of Art School bundle, plus a children’s book illustration job that we’ll share more about in a later newsletter.

Jemma wins our Best of Bootcamp: Market Mix 1 bundle, which is packed with more fabulous assignments from art agent Lilla – we hope it helps her land lots more brilliant jobs!

Angela Holland

One thing that art agent Lilla often says is that people buy your joy, and we loved this story from Make Art That Sells student Angela about how the courses helped her to land more than ten puzzle illustration jobs with Ravensburger and La Box Trevell.

Angela Holland Le Trevell

Angela told us: “I first did a jigsaw design when I took Assignment Bootcamp. Lilla laid it all out for us and she made it delightful and fun. Something clicked in my head: I tended to work with a lot of detail, maybe this was something I could get into? Little did I know it, but I would end up snagging not one, but over ten jigsaw illustration gigs, working with Ravensburger and La Box Trevell. I also won an award for my work! I have four more jigsaws coming out next year.”

Angela added: “Over the years, I have taken many Make Art That Sells courses, from Assignment Bootcamp to the amazing children’s illustration course, Illustrating Children’s Books – basically any Make Art That Sells course I could get my hands on! I don’t just think Make Art That Sells courses got me work, I know it!”

We hope you enjoyed the show, and don’t forget we’ll be sharing more of your stories in just a couple of weeks’ time.

SOME THINGS TO NOTE (1)

  • Next newsletter: “The hype is real”: we hear from Sarah Walsh, a Make Art That Sells student who is represented by Lilla Rogers Studio on why she loves MATS and why she always wishes she’d taken a class sooner.

Lots of love
