Lettering Variety copy

Being able to do lettering is fantastic for your creative career, and is used across a ton of wonderful art markets. Check out these gorgeous products, agented by Lilla Rogers.

Art agent Lilla’s brand NEW lettering course, Assignment Bootcamp: Lettering, will show you how you can find your own unique lettering style and help you build a mini-encyclopaedia of styles to fall back on, plus you’ll create some eye-catching art for your portfolio and get direct access to your teacher in monthly Zoom events.

Being able to do lettering opens up a huge number of jobs, and it’s useful across nearly all art markets, including children’s books, non-fiction books, editorial, gift, wall art, party paper, greetings cards, even bolt fabric.

Lilla says: “Lettering is fantastic for your career and can get you a ton of work. I created this course because I wanted to encourage you to experiment with different styles of lettering, to find your own unique style, and to fill your illustration portfolio with beautiful artwork designed to get you paying jobs.”

Lilla lettering

Lilla has been obsessed with lettering since taking penmanship in Grade 3. She’s studied calligraphy, taught her own classes, and landed a ton of jobs doing her own unique lettering.

Lilla has been obsessed with lettering ever since penmanship was her favorite subject all the way back in Grade 3. Since then, she’s studied Chinese calligraphy at the University of Wisconsin, taken a class with fabulous calligrapher Barbara Bash in Boulder, Colorado, taught calligraphy herself, and landed jobs doing lettering for clients like Bergdorf’s, Bloomingdales, Estee Lauder, Vogue, the Washington Post, and Oprah Magazine.

If you’ve taken Assignment Bootcamp before – and thousands of artists have – then you’ll find that Lilla’s lettering Bootcamp is structured a little differently. For the first week of every month of the course, you’ll get a daily Micro Mini Assignment every day from Monday to Friday. This is a beautiful sample of unique lettering with Lilla’s notes that you can practice copying – check out our fab free Playbook for a little sneak peek.

You’ll get fifteen of these cool Micro Mini Assignments, each with an optional bonus assignment. Paste them into a sketchbook to build your own reference source.

The cool thing about the Micro Minis is that Lilla has designed them to be printed out and stuck in a sketchbook that’s A4 or letter size or larger, so you build up your own visual reference guide as the course progresses.

Lilla says: “I had a ball searching out vintage typography at used bookstores and vintage shops, and spotting all kinds of amazing lettering and typographic styles on cool products like chocolate bars, coffee, posters and more!”

So many great art markets need your beautiful lettering, like this dreamy packaging. Let Lilla show you how to give your art career a huge boost.

In the second week of each month, you’ll get an assignment that will help you to create some gorgeous art for your portfolio and which you can use to help you get paying gigs.

In the third week of each month you’ll get some great bonus content: maybe an interview with an artist or art director, or a lesson on lettering technique. Read more about what your bonus content could be here.

In the fourth week of each month, you’ll join Lilla and your fellow students for a fabulous LIVE Zoom event. You’ll be able to ask Lilla anything, see some amazing products that feature lettering and chat to your classmates in the breakout rooms.
