This was Michelle’s second year of taking Illustrating Children’s Books and in her blog entry she shares a ton of great tips on time management and making the most of this indepth course, as well as a fascinating deep dive into her approach and techniques. Oh and spoiler alert – one of her preparation tips includes buying art supplies.

Michelle describes the course as “a treasure throve of insider knowledge and experience” and also celebrates the wonderful Facebook group, which is a huge source of support and advice.

Michelle concludes: “This blog entry is also part of my teaching ways to remind my peers that this 5-week course, though intense and nerve-racking, is manageable and enjoyable when you have a strategy and that success in any task is not measured by compliments but by the intensity of joy felt after finishing a piece of your own art amid difficulties. ‘People buy your joy,’ our fairy art mother always tells us.”
