  • Imagine getting to spend your time creating adorable characters and whimsical worlds – and getting paid for it!

Are you dreaming of building a successful career in the magical world of children’s picture book illustration? Our raved-about career-changing course, Illustrating Children’s Books, starts in just a few weeks, on Monday, April 12th, and there’s still time to sign up!

Each course includes three brand new texts written especially for class and carefully designed to let every student shine, no matter what stage you’re at. Our texts are usually written by brilliant children’s book art director and course co-teacher, Zoë Tucker – and two of the stories that Zoë originally wrote for class have now been published as children’s picture books! Last year, however, art agent Lilla wrote one of the texts for class, and, as you’d expect from someone who says that they’re obsessed with color, color was a big feature.

You’ll find it fascinating to see how different artists can create completely different children’s book illustration styles with the same story. On with the show!

Tisha’s character study from Illustrating Children’s Books 2020. It was Tisha’s work in this class that first caught Lilla’s eye – Lilla then went on to offer Tisha representation later in the year. Make Art That Sells classes are a great way to get your art in front of a top art agent!

Tisha is one of the latest Make Art That Sells students to be represented by Lilla Rogers after Lilla spotted her in class, and it was her art for Illustrating Children’s Books which first caught Lilla’s eye, with her appealing characters and sophisticated style.

A little word of warning though: Kelly Anne told us “I started with Illustrating Children’s Books in February 2017 and have taken all of the classes since” – Make Art That Sells courses are just a little bit addictive!

Lilla says “When I first saw her children’s book work for The Lucky Pearl, I knew I needed to help her get children’s book work and see her work published.”

Janie describes Illustrating Children’s Books as one of her favorite Make Art That Sells courses: she says “Illustrating Children’s Books [is] an intense learning experience that stretches you in every direction – it’s an incredible incubator for personal growth no matter which area of illustration you are interested in.”
