How Erica Root wrote her picture book

Erica Root is a Make Art That Sells student who is now represented by Lilla Rogers Studio after Lilla fell in love with her gorgeous art in class.

In a previous newsletter, we explained how Erica was one of the Lilla’s artists who beta tested My Kid Book Pitch before its official launch. The story she wrote, Close to You From Far Away, was subsequently picked up and published by Running Press Kids.
Erica worked with inventor, creative director and art agent Riley Wilkinson to develop the idea of tear-out postcards at the back of the book.
Close to You From Far Away has just been published, so Erica has been sharing some beautiful boards showing a little bit of her process in writing her story and seeing it through to publication.
