It feels like there’s a lot going on at the moment, right? Some of us may be struggling to stay positive when it feels like we’re constantly being bombarded with bad news and negativity.
We reached out to art agent and wise fairy artmother Lilla Rogers to ask her advice on how to stay positive when it feels like there’s nothing but doom and gloom ahead, and this is what she told us.

Lilla told us: “I’ve lived through many tough times, and I can tell you this: focus on what you can control, which is your art and your art career. It can be very empowering to give yourself permission to focus on something positive that you can affect. I find that my art and the courses that I teach through Make Art That Sells, are a wonderful focus that brings joy and is uplifting, and my students tell me that they feel the same way. Plus it’s comforting to be around like-minded people. As artists and creative people, this is what we can do, and we’re lucky that this is something that we can do. This, too, shall pass.”
Thanks Lilla! With that in mind, today we wanted to share a few more success stories from our brilliant alumni who are making art and living their best lives.
Want to give yourself a beautiful focus for the weeks and months ahead? Want to make your art even better, and learn how you can make real money from making pictures? Don’t forget our big Spring Sale is on RIGHT NOW, with at least 25% and up to 45% off every single one of our game-changing courses – but hurry HURRY, there’s just a couple of days to go! Children’s book illustrator and mixed media artist Kylee has had a whole heap of successes since taking Make Art That Sells classes, including two children’s book illustration deals and two more in progress.
Kylee told us: “It’s been almost three years since I became a Make Art That Sells student! Although I studied studio art in a university, I quickly fell in love with illustration, and my school’s illustration courses were pretty basic. If I wanted to pursue this as my career, I needed information outside of my normal scope, which is how I found Make Art That Sells.”

Kylee continued: “Aside from illustrating two children’s books, I have also illustrated an animated story and my own coloring book. I’m also working on two books for self-published authors alongside creating a body of work for a local gallery. Make Art That Sells has given me more confidence in illustration. My characters are more playful and interesting after taking character play. Thanks to Lilla’s hand lettering course, the books I’m working on now will have gorgeous covers!”

Finally, Kylee added: “With Lilla, I really feel seen. She embraces free movement, scribbles, joy, and allows my energy to shine through. The Make Art That Sells courses have opened my mind to the multitude of possibilities, even outside of book illustration where I hope to enjoy a fulfilling career. It is impossible for me to overstate how grateful I am for how much hard work Make Art That Sells puts into their courses and I will continue to be a Make Art That Sells student for that very reason.”

Kim was then commissioned to create 15 new artworks for the Professional Ski Instructors of Canada’s eLearning program, and now she’s been commissioned to create a mascot character for Snowsport England, the governing body for skiing and snowboarding in England!
