Manifesto Monday 2016 {part 1}

ManMon

Welcome to Manifesto Monday We receive so many wonderful comments about ‘Make Art That Sells‘, that we invited our amazing alumni to submit their own MATS Manifesto! We were absolutely delighted (but not surprised!) by the staggering level of submissions for the 2016 Manifesto competition. Over the coming weeks, we will be sharing their beautiful artwork on the blog.

BROOKE ANNE BRISTOW

MANI2016_Brooke Anne Bristow
I participated in the Global Talent Search 2015.
I enjoy watching all of Lilla’s videos-I am trying to build my freelance business and would really love to take one of her courses. I have been working as a graphic designer for over 10 years and I want to do more surface design so I can work for myself.
The GTS experience was wonderful. I loved the assignments and getting to see what everyone created. It was like art school for me, it wasn’t just an assignment, but it was inspiration for the project as well. See more of Brooke’s work here: https://www.brookebristow.com

HEATHER POWERS

MANI2016_HEATHER_POWERS
I took MATS Home Decor in January, I’m currently taking MATS A self-paced course and Bootcamp.
Lilla’s courses have given me insight into creating stronger artwork, how to be more productive as an artist, tips on how to sell my work to five different markets and most importantly that I’m ready right now to chase after my creative dreams. No need to wait to for perfection, submit and grow while I create more and more art.
Whether you are a caterpillar, a chrysalis or a full-fledged butterfly – you are who you need to be at each stage of your career. And that is the biggest lesson I have learned and the one that has changed me most as an artist thanks to Lilla. See more of Heather’s work here: https://www.heatherpowersart.com

MANI2016_KATIE_CARR
This is my first MATS course, I have been inspired by your emails and video clips, especially showing your studio and all the amazing products. On previous videos I loved seeing the racoon design made from a drawing into a product and it’s taken a while for me to decide which course to dive into!
I thought this portfolio one would be a good place to start. I used to work in fashion and have now move into illustration/print and pattern, and hope to produce designs for home decor. I have learnt some techniques on skillshare and youtube tutorials.
This MATS course is so passionate about colour and design, I’m encouraged to play, keep drawing and just be myself. To bring out the best in my portfolio I need to produce a lot of work and not worry about making mistakes and then I’ll see my true style. The Facebook group helps me stay on track and be inspired by others creativity, the support is invaluable. Some of the beautiful images on 1920s hairstyles have encouraged me to work that bit harder and try and bring out the best in myself. See more of Katie’s work here: katiecarrdesign.wordpress.com
