Here’s Part 2 of your FREE warm-up assignment: REMIX!

Just like in Find Your Art Style with Style, where you’ll do a playful Mini assignment each week that you then build on for your Big assignment, we’re going to build on the work that you’ve already done – so you’re already halfway there

Part 1 of your illustration assignment was to draw these cute characters in your own style: now it’s time to mix it up!

Today we want you to take the characters you drew before and remix them!

Shake up the shapes! Instead of using the rounded shapes of the figures, make them more angular! How does it change the mood and vibe of the art?
Re-imagine the palette! Let’s not be primary, use bright summery colors: think citrus brights like yellow and lime green, maybe add some turquoise or cerise into the mix. What does summer look like to you?
Change your characters’ gender or ethnicity. Tip from Tamisha: Play around with their hair and hats! Change their clothes! It would be great to see some wild outfits replacing their dungarees and suit. Unleash your imagination and play – that’s how you’ll hone your unique style.
When you’ve remixed your characters, be sure to share on Instagram and tag @makeartthatsells and use the hashtag #MATSprep so Lilla and Tamisha can see what you’ve created!

Don’t forget, in Find Your Art Style with Style, you’ll get suggested media to try each week, along with an inspiring video from Tamisha focusing on line and shape, but for this taster assignment you can choose whichever media you want to use. Experiment and play – the more you do that, the more discernments you make, the more you’ll find your own unique art style emerges.

Q. What else will I get in this course?

A. Each week you’ll focus on line and shape, a time period, a color palette, and an art medium to build your style a step at a time.

Every Monday, you’ll explore a different style era with your Mini Assignment. Tamisha will share some stunning imagery and discuss the line and shape, design motifs, and color palette used in each era.

Every Wednesday, it’s time for Sip and Sketch! Each week Tamisha will pose in vintage clothes inspired by that week’s style icon so you can practise your figure drawing, before you get 30 minutes to chat with your fellow students in private Breakout Rooms to meet and connect.

Every Thursday, you’ll get your Big Assignment.
