If you’ve been following Make Art That Sells for a while then you’ll already know that one of several things that makes our courses unique is that they are taught by a top international art agent, Lilla Rogers – and she’s always looking for new artists to represent.
In fact, since Make Art That Sells was founded in 2013, Lilla has offered representation to a whopping 32 students whose art she’s fallen in love with in class.
Huge congratulations to #32 …
Fay Ford!
Oxfordshire, UK, based Fay is a long-term Make Art That Sells fan who has taken Assignment Bootcamp: Portfolio, Hot Markets for Your Art Part A and Part B, Creating Collections for Home Décor, Illustrating Children’s Books, My Toy Pitch, our FREE art history course, Redrawing Black History, and the MATS MBA (Money BadAss) – some of them several times.
All this means that she’s created a broad and powerful portfolio and been able to hone her own unique beautiful style.

We caught up with Fay to ask her a few questions about her journey, and how it felt to get The Call from Lilla.
Fay’s character development for Illustrating Children’s Books, her favorite Make Art That Sells course.
MATS: Which course was your favorite and why?
Fay told us: I love the Illustrating Children’s Books Course – so much so, I think I’ve taken it 5 or 6 times?!

It’s an all absorbing, inspiring and exhausting course rolled into 5 weeks. Every time I do it, I see my work improving, and it always feeds into other projects that I’m working on.

MATS: What’s your dream job?
Fay told us: A home dec range in Anthropologie would be amazing … perhaps ceramics, or a few cushions, or both!
Fay’s fabulous characters for My Toy Pitch, inspired by the nature which surrounds her home.
And I would love to work on a children’s non-fiction book about nature.
MATS: What brings you joy?
Fay told us: Simple things. Like working in my garden studio with the doors wide open, listening to the bird song and the wind in the trees. Walks along the river or the coast with my family and dogs. Oh, and a good Scandi crime drama series!

MATS: How did you feel when Lilla got in touch to discuss representation?
Fay told us: Apparently my family said I was speechless, like I was in shock! And then I didn’t sleep a wink that night, with so much racing around my head!
