Christine Benda

I created a little Christmas fox sitting on a soft little snow cloud. He is the first image I created without using paper and only using Illustrator and Photoshop!

I’ve just finished MATS A October 2015 and I’ve signed up for self-paced MATS B. I loved working on my MATS assignments and I think I learned a lot about how I work and how to improve. I have learned to stay positive! I want to work my way through MATS B and continue to work on my portfolio.

Caroline Bonne Muller / Cartita Design

Holiday Greeting Card ‘ Santa Girl is baking cookies ‘ which is available to purchase here.

Caroline-Bonne-MullerI have taken Mats A, MATS Creating Collections for Home Decor and Mats B

I loved doing the MATS classes, it helps you to create more diverse work and to find the markets you really like. And I adored the social part as well, it’s so nice to be part of a big group of illustrators.

Next year I will continue doing Bootcamp, to make more beautiful work with unexpected themes! Further more I wish to find an agent, to pitch my work to some companies I really adore. It will be an exiting 2016.

Jyotsna Warikoo Designs

Art created for a greeting card and wall art.

Jyotsna-WarikooI have taken MATS Creating Collections for Home Décor and Bootcamp

The Make art that sells classes have been a huge positive investment for my art. The assignment as well as the minis were a great way for me to think outside my comfort zone and create something without the fear or anxiety of being judged.

They helped me loosen up and create something just for the sake of creating. I always use to shy away from a more illustrative style and after the classes I see myself more confident in creating illustrations. Lilla, my very own fairy art godmother, told us to be fearless and put our work out there. I took her advice and I sent my work out. I have recently signed a contract and am now a licensed artist with Art Licensing international. I cannot thank Lilla and Margo enough for the wonderful Home Décor course and invaluable advice and insights.

Bev Siverd

Art for a yard flag, gift bag or serving platter

BEV SIVERDI have taken Bootcamp, MATS A + B

The classes helped me see what markets my art appeals to. The class was very encouraging. To learn from a professional, to just be yourself & know that where you are is OK!

My next steps for 2016 is to keep on submitting art and making new art.

Here is a gift wrap design that I have sold to a client.

I took MATS A last spring. By taking the class, Lilla helped to inspire me to try new techniques in my artwork and to try other categories in surface design. I mostly have focused on bedding during my career.

Adriana Hernandez-Bergstrom

The design “Peace on Earth” print and greeting card features a dove with olive branch flying over a pine tree with the hand-lettered words “Let There Be Peace on Earth” over the tree. It’s a mixed media illustration with a wintery / holiday / all-is-calm vibe. It is available to purchase on Society6

I have taken MATS A & B, Bootcamp and attended the Global Art Gathering

This year has been a massive transition year. First MATS Bootcamp started me off on the right foot getting used to making art fairly regularly. Then, after enrolling in MATS A , I knew it was going to be a grand adventure. And, it did not disappoint. I made work for every single assignment in Bootcamp, MATS A, MATS B, and for the Global Art Gathering. Shortly after attending the Global Art Gathering, I found out we were moving back to the U.S. Having already established a really good art-making routine helped me keep my focus throughout the move.

The MATS classes introduced me to a really strong artist’s community where I was able to find others who are just as eager as I am to get their careers jump started (or re-started). As a result, I started an art collective (Finch & Foxglove) and we’re headed to Surtex in 2016. 2015 was chock full of inspiration, motivation, and focus, I can’t wait to see what 2016 will bring! Cheers!

Anna Berger

The original picture was made in the first MATS B class and was a painting, looking very different. I remade it to make a christmas card for the shop Loft in Japan.

Anna-Berger

I been in the very first MATS class both A and B and I also took the class again in 2014 both A and B and also the bootcamp last spring 2015.

The MATS classes have given me new inspiration to create art and also to give in 110% and take the art a another round and give that little extra. And also to belive in your art and developing your style. And not at least how important it is to have FUN.

Next step is to create more art and try to get more work, contacting different companies. I really like to make illustration for childrens books so I will work on that.
