What makes a great artist?
Art agent Lilla is often asked, “What makes a great artist? What’s the difference between a good artist and a great one?” Lilla shares her thoughts in this short video – watch above, or check out the transcript below.

“I was recently asked: What’s the difference between a good artist and a great artist? And I think the answer is when you really feel that individual in the art, you know, you sense the person, they’ve come through in the work (a), and (b) in a way that’s magical and beautiful and fresh and unique. That takes time. Rome wasn’t built in a day!”

Another crucially important part of an art career with longevity is having support. Being part of a creative community can be the difference between keeping going and giving up before you have had the chance to succeed. This is one part of our online courses that we are hugely proud of, as we have seen just how strong the bonds formed between artists become.
In this second short video Lilla reveals why the Make Art That Sells community is so very special, and how she sets the stage for the formation of deep friendships, creative support and even professional collaborations. Click below to watch:

“One of the most amazing things about Make Art That Sells is the Facebook community. so there’s a private community just for the students.
And I lay down the law number one right away that this is a place to be supportive, positive and encouraging of each other, because it’s just a fact that’s going to help you do your best work, because you’re going to feel safe, others are going to do their best work. So that’s why we do it. It’s not like all happy face like and everybody just fakes it, but it’s about being supportive and encouraging.
At the same time, you’re tapping into all these amazing people who know stuff, the resources, like what what Wacom tablet, what scanner is good, what printer, what digital camera, things like that; or do you like Society 6 or something else to sell your work?
There’s just, you can ask anything and baboom, you’ll get like 20 responses right away. It’s fantastic. It even goes into things like, ‘So I’m working on my piece for the final assignment, do you like this version better or that version?’ And people will comment like, ‘Oh, I love that blue background’. So it’s a treasure.”
