Shannon Newlin Manifesto

Make Art That Sells manifesto by 2015 winner Shannon Newlin.

What would your Make Art That Sells manifesto say? What sums up the Make Art That Sells experience for you?

  • Is it the opportunity to fill your portfolio with show-stopping job-snagging art?
  • Is it the inimitable Lilla Rogers, top art agent and Make Art That Sells co-founder and teacher, with her wisdom, insight and always surprising assignments?
  • Or is it knowing that you’ve found your tribe in our brilliant supportive Facebook groups?

As we head into the new year, we’re setting you a fun challenge for the holiday season: to create a Make Art That Sells manifesto illustration that describes what MATS means to you.

The grand prize winner will get a FREE spot in our raved-about course, Assignment Bootcamp. And three runners up will win a free place in our popular self-paced e-course Drawing Faces. If you win and already have already registered for the relevant course, you can gift it to a friend or have a credit of the full course value towards a future MATS purchase.

About the prize:

Every year, we get emails from students begging us to run Assignment Bootcamp for longer, maybe even all year round. What’s all the fuss about?

Put simply, you get to make a stunning portfolio piece for a different market every month for four months, alongside hundreds of other creatives from beginners to professional artists who are all working on the same assignment, which makes it an incredible learning experience.

The assignments are written especially for the course by art agent Lilla, who bases them on whichever art markets, trends and topics are the hottest right now, and what she sees being assigned in her art agency every day, and she makes them playful and inspiring with plenty of surprises along the way. So, for example, you might find yourself sketching some vintage photographs that end up being the basis for a graphic novel for the editorial market, or finding some quirky opposites that end up being a unique salt and pepper pot set for the home décor market: you never know what Lilla will think of next (and every year she tries to surpass herself)!

All in all, you get something (maybe an assignment, a trend board, an industry interview or a video) from a top art agent every single Monday for four months and you get to make four show-stopping portfolio pieces that are designed to get you more work in a fun and supportive atmosphere for the equivalent of buying a latte each week!  Find out more and book your place here.
