The submissions for our 2018 Global Talent Search were absolutely top-notch. I’m thrilled to announce the 50 semi-finalists and you can now see them here.
One of them WILL become the next top artist for my art agency to represent.
The fifty semi-finalists are from all over the world:

I created a series of three assignments which increase in difficulty. The first assignment was very broad, enabling each artist to show off their style. At minimum, it’s is an opportunity for the entrants to create a great portfolio piece. This first assignment allowed me to assess each artist’s drawing ability, style, color sensibility, lettering skills, design sense, and more. (The second assignment is for the semi-final stage and the third is for the final stage artists only).
Congratulations to those of you that made the cut! Let me tell you, narrowing down over 1,000 submissions to a mere 50 is extremely difficult. I want you to know that so many of you could have made the cut. We (myself and the agents at Lilla Rogers Studio) select the 50 based upon many tangible and intangible factors, such as would we be able to get work for this artist’s style? Does it fit with our existing group in some way? Does the work show a maturity that could handle the rigors of a professional illustration career? In many cases, I did actually check out the artist’s website to get a fuller picture of the artist’s body of work. (So, yay to those of you that took the Portfolio Review Live course!)
The 50 selected artists have been given a second assignment and have several days to complete it. Their work will be judged by our premier jury and the 5 scoring the highest (along with the People’s Choice) will move on to the final assignment.
