Finally the big reveal! We’re incredibly excited to announce an amazing NEW course from art historian, illustrator and Make Art That Sells student, Tamisha Anthony, together with art agent Lilla Rogers. Redrawing Black History is a fascinating and visually rich online course that will run for four weeks from January 10th, 2022, ahead of Black History Month in the USA. We know you’re going to love seeing the images that Tamisha has put together for you, and creating art inspired by this brand new course.
Lilla says: “You’re going to love how Tamisha uncovers the richness of the Black American experience, teaching us about little-known but fascinating Black Americans from four incredible eras. She dives deep into the creativity of each era: the clothing, hairstyles, and more. I know students are going to be enthralled with the visuals and be so inspired by Tamisha. Redrawing Black History will enrich your knowledge you with a broader visual vocabulary of Black American culture, both contemporary and historic, and give you another tool in your illustration toolkit. Here’s what you can expect:
- You’ll love watching the weekly presentations, packed full of images of art, clothing, culture, historical figures and more, curated by your passionate and engaging teacher, Tamisha – who will even be dressed in period clothing for each of the four eras you’ll learn about. Plus you can download the presentation so that you can keep it as a visual reference.
- Then you’ll get to enjoy a lively discussion between Tamisha and Lilla, where they talk about everything Tamisha has shown you in the presentation.
- Finally, feeling motivated and inspired, you’ll get to create some gorgeous art for your portfolio, with illustration assignments (suitable for all levels) based on each era.
- And at the end of the course, Lilla and Tamisha will pick some of their favorite pieces of student art to review in a LIVE event!

Tamisha says: “Redrawing Black History is a great way to get a snapshot of Black history, to see the creativity and resilience of African Americans, their incredible artistry in creating something out of nothing, and how they always endured despite their struggles. They found a way to connect and find joy and love and celebration in the most ugly of times, and I think that’s amazing.”
Lilla adds: “This course is a celebration of Black American history, that acknowledges the struggles of the past, but also showcases the beauty. As an agent, I want to see diversity in an artist’s portfolio. I promise you that you’ll be inspired.”
