Bootcamp surprise #4 revealed: Composition secrets from Lilla

You know when you look at a piece of art and something looks slightly off, but you aren’t sure what? Or it’s uncomfortable on the eye, and you’re not sure why? That’s often down to ‘composition’, which is all about the arrangement of the visual elements of your work.

Perhaps this word conjures up dreaded memories of art school where you were forced to follow certain rules. Or perhaps you’ve never actually thought of the lay out of your art work. Even if you are aware of the importance of composition, it’s worth having a refresher, as it can be so fundamental to the success of a piece.

In fact, it’s so important that Lilla is doing a very special ‘bonus surprise’ in this year’s Bootcamp, all about composition. What are the principles? What are the rules? And when can you break the rules? Lilla has looked at hundreds of thousands of pieces of art over her career, and has an incredible eye for a great piece, so there is no-one better to teach you about this than The Fairy Artmother herself.

And this is just a bonus on top of the main course content of MATS Assignment Bootcamp 2016, which helps you build your portfolio through a series of professional-level creative assignments. Don’t miss it! If you haven’t yet booked your spot, hurry and register now. Class starts on March 7!

  1. Composition is very important. I totally agree with Lilla! But at the same time, composition seems easy but it isn’t. I think it will be great to talk about composition on Bootcamp! I’m still crossing fingers to get a free place :D And learn a lot with all of you :D
