After entering Global Talent Search in 2013 and making it into the top 50, she decided to go back to “school” and signed up for Lilla Rogers’ MATS Part A, Part B, and Bootcamp to build her portfolio and strengthen her illustration skills. With energized confidence, she entered the Global Talent Search a year later, made it through three rounds of competitions and among thousands of entries, Tara became the 2014 winner! Tara has worked with Hallmark, Robert Kaufman, American Greetings, Galison, Midwest CBK, Peaceable Kingdom, Quarto Publishing, Crown Crafts Infant Products and other firms in the past year. Here’s a glimpse of a few projects Tara has been working on with Lilla Rogers Studio, while being a new mother to little June Ellawyn Lilly! All images are courtesy of Tara Lilly.

Katie Vernon Make Art That Sells Brighton event poster design competition - winner announced!

Brighton event poster design competition – winner announced!

As a one-off special assignment in our current Make Art That Sells Bootcamp class, we recently challenged class participants to design a poster for our upcoming LIVE event in Brighton, UK, in June, ‘Make Art That Sells: The Global Art Gathering’. We were absolutely blown away by the response, and it was a difficult decision for Lilla, her studio ladies and our guest judge Judy Stevens, founder of Artists Open Houses Brighton. After much deliberation they decided that the winner would be KATIE VERNON, whose stunning poster design completely captured the character of Brighton, a buzzing creative city on the South Coast of England.

Manifesto competition – The winners!

We receive so many wonderful comments about ‘Make Art That Sell’s, that we challenged our amazing alumni to submit their own Manifesto. We had 161 entries and were absolutely delighted (but not surprised!) by the staggering level of submissions for the MATS Manifesto illustration competition. Lilla was very impressed with all the entries and announced an overall winner, PLUS 4 honorable mentions. The winner gets a free place on our wonderful new MATS course launching later this year (watch this space!). Our runners up all win a free entry into the 2015 Global Talent Search.
