Flow told us, “We paid attention to quality, diversity, colors, orginality and if the illustration makes us happy, or touches us. We think with this calendar we bring an ode to illustrators, and we give you a different ‘painting’ on your wall, every day of the year!” In many cases, the images were created during Make Art That Sells online courses. We are so proud of our Make Art That Sells Alumni, and we are pleased to feature a series of spotlight interviews showcasing their successes and artwork. We’ve asked them to share how the MATS courses have helped them learn and grow. You can see more Alumni Success stories here Today, we have an interview with Devon Holzwarth who has taken MATS A, MATS Bootcamp, Global Talent Search, Creating Collections for Home Decor and Illustrating Children’s Books Tell us a little about how you got started in art and design As a child growing up in Panama with a teacher mom and an intelligence agent/artist dad, I was surrounded by many cultures, lots of books, art supplies, ginger and lemongrass on the stoop, chirping marmosets in the garden, and mahogany trees that rained helicopter seeds over the house. Zoë Tucker’s Insider Review of the Bologna Book Fair

Zoë Tucker is our beloved co-teacher of the Make Art That Sells Illustrating Children’s Books course and a highly regarded children’s book art director. Earlier this year she attended the Bologna Children’s Book Fair, so we jumped at the chance to catch up with her and get her insights about the show. We also asked our MATS students who attended the fair to share images and their experience, so you can read their thoughts here.   Zoe writes: Hi everyone! I haven’t been to the Bologna book fair in years and decided this year it was high time I reacquainted myself with it. It didn’t disappoint! Aside from the fact that Bologna is a beautiful medieval city and a great mini-break, the international Bologna Children’s Book Fair is a one stop wonder of inspiration and excitement – especially if you love children’s books like I do! You can download this report from Zoë

MATS Students at the Bologna Children’s Book Fair

The Bologna Children’s Book Fair is held in the Spring every year in Bologna, Italy. The Fair is the event in the publishing year’s calendar, built around children’s content today. Zoë Tucker, our beloved co-teacher of the Illustrating Children’s Books course and a highly regarded children’s book art director, attended in 2018. Zoe wrote a report about the fair here and we also asked some of our MATS students who went along to send us some thoughts. So in today’s post, MATS students share a few images and thoughts on attending the fair in person! I was at the fair with my 16 year old daughter, who has ambitions to go to the art academy, so I thought it was nice to
