Never before in the history of the planet have there been so many opportunities for creative people!
For the next three days, I’m going to help you prepare for our hugely successful course, MATS MBA (Money BadAss) which starts this Monday. In the MBA course, you’ll make your dreams a reality, and this 3-Day MATS Prep is going to help you get ready for that with this kinda magical exercise.
Each day, you’ll build on the previous day, so be sure to dive in right now.
I’d love to see what you do so be sure to share it on social media! #matsprep
Today, I’d like you to draw cups! Yup, cups.
Draw a page of 10 – 20 cups, vases, bowls, containers of varying sizes. Leave room to write words on the front of each vessel. You’ll learn more tomorrow.
Here’s a really simple page of cups I drew to show you how easy this is. Or, feel free to make a more developed picture in your favorite media. It’s all good.
Mine are all the same page, but on your page, be sure you vary the sizes of the cups.
Look around your apartment/house and see what cups you have. What is a cup? It’s a container that holds things. It sometimes has a handle, sometimes has a saucer. It can be large, like a bowl. It can be a bucket, a jar, a container of any kind. Really, any cup-like shape is great! For short-hand, I’m calling them all ‘cups’.
Look what I just found in my Anthropologie catalog! Study the shapes, the faceting, the opening, the curves, the decoration.

You’re a creative person, so draw any kind of cups that make you happy. You can draw them, or paint them, or even cut out photos of cups if you prefer. You can simply take a white piece of paper and a pencil and draw a page of cups. Be you. Play.
The MATS MBA course is about finding your dreams and making them happen, and because you’re creative, I’m making this a playful drawing exercise to help you loosen the gears. And maybe it’ll even be a portfolio piece.
I can’t wait to obsess Instagram #matsprep and see what you come up with!
