Why? Because she knows they’ll have powerful portfolios that will get them work in a ton of markets from the Make Art That Sells courses that they’ve taken. Plus she gets to know them in class and see how they interact with other students, whether they meet deadlines, whether they conduct themselves professionally, and so on.

In other words, taking Make Art That Sells courses is an amazing way to get your art in front of Lilla, and maybe land representation with this unique art agency.

Does it really work? YES! Lilla has already announced that she’s offered representation to FIVE Make Art That Sells students so far in 2021 alone (read more about the first three here), and she’s due to announce that she’s taken on THREE MORE in the next couple of months. In fact, we didn’t have a chance to chat to Tequitia before Lilla announced that she’d taken on another artist. So let’s get acquainted with Tequitia now while we have the chance!

Congratulations, Tequitia!

Meet Tequitia Andrews

Tequitia has taken Assignment Bootcamp and Illustrating Children’s Books so far, and Lilla was blown away by her gorgeous portraits, strong color, powerful themes, lovely lettering, and spectacular children’s illustration. Lilla tells us that she envisions Tequitia getting tons of editorial and advertising gigs, and loads of children’s picture book illustration work. Since being with Lilla Rogers Studio, Tequitia has already landed work for American Greetings, Bravery magazine, Sublime Stitching, Penguin Workshop and Farshore (part of HarperCollins)!

MATS: Which course was your favorite, and why?

Tequitia says: “I really enjoyed the Illustrating Children’s Books class. It’s chock full of information and you learn so much about the industry. I also enjoyed and learned a lot from the regular Zoom review sessions. It was fun seeing so many wonderful illustrations from class and getting advice from Lilla and Zoë!”

MATS: How have the classes helped you evolve/grow?

Tequitia says: “I think the classes have helped me grow as an artist by helping me to put more of myself in my work. As Lilla says, ‘People buy your joy!’ I feel more confident in allowing my voice and my experiences inspire my work.”

Tequitia says: “The first thing is to have fun. The second would be not to allow jealousy or envy of others impede your progress or intimidate you from sharing your work. And last I would say to take advantage of live Zoom sessions to ask questions and get tips to help improve your work and for encouragement. Lilla radiates positivity!”
