Let art agent Lilla show you how simple and enjoyable it can be to write a picture book of your very own! In My Kid Book Pitch, which starts Monday, October 18th, Lilla will teach you everything you need to know to write a picture book story, avoid the slush pile, and get it published.
On Day 1, you’ll play with Lilla’s Magic Cards as a first step to get your dreamy idea. Then, you’ll fill out a structured sequencing chart to organize and structure your story. And that’s just for starters!

Emily Hamilton
Back in March, Emily emailed us to let us know that the story she’d written in My Kid Book Pitch had been picked up by a publisher.
Emily said: “I found out last week that a publishing house is taking on the book I wrote in My Kid Book Pitch last October, so I will be author and illustrator for that one, a dream come true! I can’t share more than that at this point I’m afraid, as I’m still signing and sealing!”
Emily adds: “All in all, Make Art That Sells has been the best thing I ever did! After a few years of illustrating under my belt I knew that I wanted to move into children’s books but I had nothing in my portfolio to support that and no idea where to begin. the Make Art That Sells courses I took changed all that, and if you’d told me a couple of years ago that I would now officially be a real live children’s book illustrator then I literally couldn’t have dreamed for more!”
