What’s Assignment Bootcamp? It’s four glorious months of art-making in the company of an encouraging crowd of creatives from all over the world. You’ll get something from art agent Lilla every single Monday for four months – maybe a playful downloadable worksheet, a quirky mini assignment, a video or an interview with an industry expert – and by putting them all together you’ll make four kick-ass portfolio pieces (one per month) for four of the hottest art markets right now. All this for around the same price as buying a weekly latte – no wonder Lilla says it’s probably our best deal!

What’s new this year? As ever, all of the assignments will be brand new and written especially for class. What they’ll be and which market they’ll be for is a closely guarded secret – because not knowing what the end result will be allows you to relax and enjoy the process of making art without worrying about how it’s going to turn out, plus the intrigue keeps you motivated. But we can tell you one or two things …
- This year, Lilla’s excited about adding a bunch of short instructional videos which are very inspiring, very visual, and easy to digest – just like sitting with Lilla while she shows you things!
- Usually you get one Mini assignment per month where you’ll do something playful like experiment with textures or find nutty pairs of opposites, and then you’ll use the art that you created when you do the Big assignment later in the month, so it’s not as overwhelming as starting from scratch. This time though, Lilla will be mixing things up a bit, and you may find that you get TWO Mini assignments in a month – so you’ll already have done a ton of the work by the time the Big assignment comes around!
What’s a #MATSprep? It’s a fun FREE warm up exercise to help you get ready for class. #MATSpreps are open to everyone, whether they’re taking the class or not, and they’re a great way to get a taste of the class and Lilla’s unique teaching style.

Anyone who’s taken any of Lilla’s classes will know that she adores color, and her Color Combo of the Year is a combination of two colors that she really loves. Bootcamp students will discover what the Combo is on the very first day of class, when they get a downloadable worksheet along with a color moodboard that includes all sorts of quirky bits and pieces, such as ribbons and trims, a vintage ceramic animal, a vegetable, a breakfast item, paint blobs and more!

In the meantime, just for fun, we’re asking you to come up with your very own Color Combo! Just get two colors that you love together, snap a pic, and upload it to Instagram with the tag #LillasColorCombo. You could use blobs of paint, rolls of yarn, plastic toys, or whatever you like.
