Hear what it’s really like to win the Global Talent Search! INTERVIEW with ZOË INGRAM

Want to hear what the previous winners of our Global Talent Search (GTS) have to say about the competition? We recently interviewed several previous winners of the GTS to share their stories with you. We’re incredibly excited to relaunch the GTS this year, and we thought our readers would love a sneak peek into the competition process (and what it’s like to win!) directly from the fabulous winners!

Today we’re sharing an interview with the talented Zoë Ingram who was the very first winner of the GTS in 2013; her prize signed her on to Lilla Rogers Studio (LRS) for art representation for two years, and she’s still represented by LRS today!

Make Art That Sells: Hi, Zoë! Thanks for taking time to tell us about your GTS experience. We’d love to start out by asking you why you decided to enter the Global Talent Search?

Zoë Ingram: To have a shot at representation with Lilla Rogers Studio

Did you think you had a chance at winning?

Not really, the competition was fierce.

What did you find useful about the Global Talent Search assignments? What did you learn?

It was like working on real client projects. I learned that I could do anything if I put my mind to it.

Did the Global Talent Search help you prepare for your career in any way? If so, how?

It did. Deadlines are there in all client work so working to deadlines in GTS gave me a sense of what it would be like working for clients

What advice would you give to people who are considering entering this year’s competition?

Be yourself, give it plenty but know how to refine. Oh, and pay attention to details

Did you find any of the MATS courses helpful in preparing you for the competition or for your career as an artist after winning GTS?

Absolutely! I took MATS A before GTS and it was invaluable in preparing me for the assignments.

Zoë recently got her work on a collection by Demdaco, which includes a photo frame, a baby swaddling muslin, and ‘easy kneezies’ kneepads for babies; adorable!

How did you feel when you won?

Ecstatic! Disbelief, overwhelming happiness, a sense of pride.

How has winning the GTS been beneficial for your career?

I have been busy ever since the GTS and having the support of the agency is immense.

How do you like being represented by Lilla Rogers Studio?

I love that I don’t really have to worry about the financial or negotiation side of things and that allows me to just get on with creating art and communicating with clients on projects.
