The assignment was to create an illustration to accompany an article on wabi sabi by Make Art That Sells co-founder Beth Kempton, following publication of her bestselling book Wabi Sabi: Japanese Wisdom for a Perfectly Imperfect Life. Wabi sabi is a Japanese term connected to the idea of beauty in imperfection, so when Uppercase called for submissions around the theme of “perfectly imperfect”, it was clearly a perfect fit. Everyone loves a makeover! See our Illustrating Children’s Books’ students before and afters (#6 will blow you away!)

Work by MATS student Anna Wilson for our most recent Illustrating Children’s Books course. Our outstanding Illustrating Children’s Books online course already gets rave reviews from our students, because it’s enormous fun, produces beautiful art and snags great jobs.
